About

MarkMyVerse is a Bible reading tracker with the full text built in. Open any chapter to read it in your choice of translation, and tick off what you have read as you go, down to the individual verse, across all 66 books, 1,189 chapters, and 31,102 verses.

Which translation?

You can read in six translations and switch between them on any chapter page: the King James Version (KJV), the World English Bible (WEB), the Berean Standard Bible (BSB), the Spanish Reina-Valera of 1909 (RVR), the Bible in Basic English (BBE), and the Free Bible Version (FBV). The KJV, WEB, Reina-Valera, and Bible in Basic English are in the public domain; the Berean Standard Bible is free of copyright restrictions; and the Free Bible Version is shared freely for use, with thanks to its translator, Dr. Jonathan Gallagher. The reader remembers your choice on your device, and your marked verses and bookmarks stay the same no matter which one you read, because they share the same verse numbering. A few verses that some translations place in a footnote, or number a little differently, are shown with a short note or kept to the standard numbering where they occur.

Why verse by verse?

Most trackers only go down to the chapter. If you do not read a whole chapter in one sitting, a chapter checklist cannot show where you actually are. Tracking each verse fixes that, and it makes the whole-Bible progress map possible.

Is my reading private?

Your reading stays on your device by default. What you tick is saved in your browser on the device you are using, and if you never sign in it is never sent anywhere. If you would like your progress on more than one device, you can create a free account and it will sync; you never need one to use the site. Either way there are no ads and no tracking. See the privacy page for the whole short story.

How do I move my progress to another device or keep a backup?

The backup page turns your whole reading history into one small image or code. Save it, or open it on another device, and your progress comes with you; that image is never uploaded anywhere. If you would rather it happen automatically, creating a free account syncs your progress across your devices for you.

Which numbering does it use?

The King James (KJV) versification, the most widely tabulated scheme, chosen as a superset so that verses some modern translations omit still exist as real slots. If you read a translation that numbers a few places differently (some Psalm titles, a handful of New Testament verses), those specific spots may not line up exactly; this is a known limit of any single scheme, not an error.

How accurate is the chronological order?

It is one era-by-era ordering, and it is honest about the fact that scholars disagree on where several books and passages belong. Where placement is genuinely debated, the chronological page says so rather than hiding it.

Do the reading plans track separately?

No, and that is the point. Every plan reads from the same verses you tick anywhere on the site, so a verse read once counts in every plan at once. Pick a pace, not a separate scorecard.

Can I support the project or join the community?

Yes, there are Discord and Ko-fi links in the footer of every page.
